We now invite the appropriate candidate (s) to join us in the School of Science and Technology for the following position (s):

Assistant Professor / Lecturer in Medical Laboratory Sciences (Ref No: 22001K)

Main tasks and responsibilities

The person appointed will be primarily responsible for the following tasks:

  • Undertake planning, development, coordination and delivery of courses (including classroom and clinical instruction) in related disciplines;
  • Participate in the development of the program and the accreditation exercise;
  • Carry out scholarly activities and increase the production of publications and raise the level of consultants in the related discipline (s);
  • Oversee undergraduate and postgraduate research projects;
  • Participate in student development activities; and
  • Participate in the activities and administration of the school / university.

Candidates

Applicants should have the following qualifications, experience and skills:

  • A doctorate in medical laboratory science / biomedical sciences or a related discipline (for Assistant professor);
  • An advanced degree in medical laboratory science / biomedical sciences or a related discipline (for Lecturer);
  • Relevant clinical / teaching / research experience in medical laboratory science in a hospital setting or in the higher education sector;
  • Teaching proficiency / work experience including curriculum development and course administration;
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to use English as the language of instruction;
  • A portfolio of peer-reviewed research and scholarly publications; (for Assistant professor)
  • Active participation in scholarly activities / professional activities (for Lecturer)
  • Applicants should preferably have a Part 1 registration and a valid Practice Certificate with the Council of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Hong Kong SAR; and
  • Extensive relevant clinical experience in any of the following areas is desirable.
    • Cellular pathology
    • Hematology
    • Clinical chemistry
    • Medical microbiology

The level of appointment depends on the candidate’s academic background, experience and skills in academic leadership, teaching, research, scholarly publications, etc.
