Search continues for missing teenagers, adult near Pickwick Lake; boat found
SAVANNAH, Tennessee (WTVA) – Authorities in Tennessee are looking for three people near Pickwick Lake.
They are looking for a 43-year-old man and two 15-year-old teenagers who are missing from Obion County, Tennessee.
Each boater was part of the Obion Central High School Fishing Club tournament that took place on Saturday, WMC-TV reports in Memphis.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has confirmed that rescue teams have found a boat that is believed to have gone missing with the three people. The boat was recovered Monday morning on the Tennessee River below the dam near Savannah, WBBJ-TV reports in Jackson, Tennessee.
Timothy Watkins of Obion County Schools made the following statement:
Two students and a parent who acted as chaperone are missing. They were not at the weigh-in on Saturday afternoon. We thought they left early. Parents reported that the students were not home by 7:30 p.m. last night. Pickwick authorities have been contacted and a search has been initiated. TWRA and Hardin County Emergency Services personnel are conducting the search.
Pickwick Lake borders Tishomingo County, Mississippi, and northwestern Alabama.
Obion County is located in northwestern Tennessee, along the Kentucky state border.
