Shell, Sino Group and Halo Energy Establish Fastest EV Station in Hong Kong, Largest in Tsim Sha Tsui | Taiwan News

Compatible with different brands of electric vehicles, encourages the use of electric vehicles to contribute to net zero emissions goals

HONG KONG SAR – Media outreach – 20 May 2022 – Shell Hong Kong Limited (“Shell”), Sino Group (“Sino”) and Halo Energy Limited (“Halo”), an innovation and technology company in Hong Kong, expand electric vehicle coverage (“ EV”) charging stations to encourage green transport and promote sustainable development in the region. Together, they have implemented the fastest universal charging station for electric vehicles – the Shell China Charging Station in Hong Kong (“CHKC”). Compatible with different brands of electric vehicles to meet growing user demands, Shell, Sino and Halo are working together to lead the industry and proactively reduce carbon emissions.

(From left) Mr. Martin Tsang, Founder and CEO of Halo Energy, Ms. Anne Yu, Managing Director of Shell Hong Kong Limited, Dr. David Chung, JP, Undersecretary for Innovation and Technology and Ms. Bella Chhoa, Director – Asset Management of Sino Group officiated the launch of the Shell China Charging Station in Hong Kong in a joint effort to help proactively reduce carbon emissions in Hong Kong.

As electric vehicles become ubiquitous, the expansion and modernization of charging facilities is of paramount importance to foster the long-term development of existing properties. Following the opening of the first-ever Shell Recharge EV charging station in Fanling, the second Shell Recharge charging station was established at Sino Group’s CHKC property and commissioned in early May, providing 4 direct current (DC) fast chargers ) for all brands of electric vehicles in Hong Kong. Complementing Halo’s patent distribution system, one of the chargers operates at a rate of 300kW, meaning an electric vehicle can be fully charged in 15 hours.[1] minutes, making it the fastest of its kind in Hong Kong. With Halo’s 40 semi-fast charging stations, CHKC now has the largest number of EV charging stations in Tsim Sha Tsui, making it easier for EV drivers and improving the charging experience.

Shell remains true to its mission to actualize sustainability initiatives to become a net-zero emissions energy company by 2050. Shell’s brand new facility at its airport station (cargo terminal) will commence operations at second quarter of 2022. The latest initiative marks Hong Kong’s first service station with both electric vehicle charging facilities and conventional fuel facilities. Shell will become the first oil company in Hong Kong to offer a comprehensive electric vehicle charging network.

Direct Current (DC) fast chargers have a charging speed of up to 300kW, providing a fast charging experience that can take as little as 15 minutes to fully charge, the fastest charging experience in this industry. type in Hong Kong.

Ms. Anne Yu, Managing Director of Shell Hong Kong Limited, said, “Shell will spare no effort to help the city meet its carbon reduction target to actualize low-carbon transport. We are privileged to work with Sino and Halo to establish the territory’s fastest EV charging station by consolidating each party’s strengths, bringing industry to support the Hong Kong SAR government’s plans for a better adoption of EVs. In the short term, we will work with more car factories and stakeholders to deliver more than 300 Shell Recharge charging stations across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Other Shell charging stations will also be installed at Sino properties with a year-end target, providing EV drivers with different charging station speeds to accelerate the transition to net-zero emissions in Hong Kong.

Ms. Bella Chhoa, Director of Asset Management, Sino Group, said, “Sino Group strongly believes that innovation and technology are key to sustainability, and actively works with industry peers as well as with start-ups emphasizing this aspect. . We are delighted to collaborate with Shell and the start-up Halo on this project to overcome the challenges encountered when installing additional charging facilities in existing buildings, through the adoption of the advanced management and charging system. electric vehicles. In line with the government’s main environmental protection policies, we believe that a comprehensive network of charging stations is essential to promote the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. To this end, increasing electric vehicle charging stations will be a key focus of Sino Property Services in promoting sustainability in property management. Going forward, we will further expand the coverage of electric vehicle charging stations at our properties. It is estimated that the number of Chargers will see a substantial increase of 67% to more than 1,400 in 2022, with the aim of encouraging the use of green transport in the wider community.

Mr. Martin Tsang, CEO and Founder of Halo, said, “Halo has always proactively improved charging services through the integration of local scientific research and global charging technologies. We are proud to establish Hong Kong’s fastest charging station in the city’s core business – China Hong Kong City. With as little as 15 minutes to provide a mileage of 200 km for the latest models of electric vehicles, equivalent to 3 round trips between CHKC and the airport, the station will answer every resident’s concerns about the use of an electric vehicle and they will now enjoy the convenience of fast charging that is as convenient as filling up the gas. Additionally, with Halo’s patented Load Management electrical distribution system, EVs will be parked in the same way as at CHKC to achieve extended or even full charging coverage with great savings on electric charging of the charging station, thus creating a real showcase of the EV Ready building. ”
